Frauke Meyer

Who is Frauke Meyer?

Frauke Meyer was born in Dresden before the fall of the Wall and turned to music and art at an early age. She studied musical theater directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. She then worked at the San Francisco Opera and the Theater Basel, where her first directorial steps followed. From 2005 to 2013 she was employed as a stage director at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she developed various productions. At the same time, she began to work as a freelance director for the Dortmund Theater and the Potsdam Winter Opera and was internationally responsible for stage takeovers in Montpellier, Istanbul, and Luxembourg.

»Frauke Meyer is an extremely astute, highly intelligent and, in the best sense, always questioning and searching artist personality. In our intensive collaboration, I appreciate not only her alert mind and her fine feeling for the smallest nuances but above all the unconditional nature of her artistic work. Her almost relentless will for artistic quality – let’s call it „truthfulness“ – is always the matrix from which she acts.«
